Chernobyl – Invisible death

30 years have passed 3000 years to go……..

July 2019, in Chernobyl, where the nuclear accident happened, the world’s most radio-active nuclear accident site. 30 years have passed since the nuclear accident, and it’s still the most radioactive contaminated place in the world. Chernobyl, Pripyat, and 155 more villages in the area will never be inhabitable again for at least 3000 years…..

The feeling of entering the city is surrealistic. What once was a full and alive city is now a ghost city where the gradual falling buildings are swallowed by the forest.
The citizens of Pripyat left their homes in a hurry thinking that they will come back after a couple of days. That was 30 years ago.
Many people ask me if the HBO series Chernobyl was the reason I decided to visit the site. But it was the other way around. I watched the series in my preparation to visit the site because I wanted to understand the history. I wanted to visit the city and see the result of the arrogant leadership that was one of many reasons behind the disaster, which could have been far more worse for many other countries if it was not for the heroes that offered their lives to prevent a second explosion.

Mankind is the worst hazard for nature.
